Step 01

Discover

Once a contract is executed, we begin with an onsite discovery visit. We love this part! This is when we get to know your space, soak up your stories and meet with your team. Discovery typically takes place over 2 to 5 days and is a great way to get to know our customer success and creative departments as they familiarize themselves with your venue. During our stay, we become familiar with the visitor experience. We take every tour offered and explore each area of your institution from multiple perspectives. In addition, we ask for behind-the-scenes tours with your museum's experts and capture all of their amazing stories.

During discovery, your team members from multiple departments can begin to share goals, express pain-points and discuss your institution's voice and vision with our team. We also take this time to illustrate how Guru's app can help make each of their jobs easier.

Step 02

Create

After discovery, the Guru team aligns internally to discuss what we've learned and to start crafting creative concepts. We then compile a master content list featuring ideas for audio stops, video, augmented reality, VR-Lite, themed tours and more. The master list is then sent to your team for feedback and approval. When creating the master list, we put careful consideration into ensuring there are no content dead zones so that visitors always have a fluid journey. Once the master list is finalized, Guru’s storytellers combine their own research with what they’ve learned during discovery in order to start crafting amazing stories and experiences.

Step 03

Guide

This is when the tech magic happens. Guru’s customer success and engineering teams construct geolocation maps, set up BLE algorithms and confirm that all Bluetooth beacons are in place. This ensures that wayfinding, location-aware content and interactive maps are functioning both inside and outside your venue. We start by planning and designing an ideal infrastructure and layout for location-tracking and data-collecting beacons. We then buy, calibrate, paint and install each beacon. Beacons are battery-powered and use an adhesive to stay in place. We have the most advanced beacon algorithms in the industry, which allow us to fully hide the beacons, if necessary.

Connect

As content is created, your app’s custom branding is developed and sent to you for review. Your app will operate on both iOS and Android devices.

Once the creative team has drafted content scripts and experience outlines, they will be compiled in easily-managed approval documents and sent to you for review. Guru's Customer Success team then loads finalized content into your app and manages its location throughout your space.

Manage

As the final pieces of content are approved and loaded into your app, we arrive back onsite to conduct final testing. During this visit, we train key members of your staff and visitor services teams. This includes preparing each team member on how to promote and troubleshoot the app. We also provide marketing recommendations and social media content strategies to aid in app promotion and a packet of custom-branded marketing signage that you can choose to print and install. Guru provides your team with a rollout plan and step-by-step instructions on how to use your app, which includes tutorials and how-to videos.

During this step in the process, we can also train you to use our content management system (CMS). Guru’s drag-and-drop CMS allows for real-time app updates and easy adjustments. Your team has the option to manage the backend of your app or have Guru do it for you.

Analyze

Guru’s data analytics help you utilize resources more efficiently, optimize the visitor experience and drive ROI. Understand who your visitors are, where they come from, what they are interested in, their income, education, age, gender and more. Demographic data is complemented by visitor behavior insights including heat mapping, content engagement, app openings, traffic patterns and more.
